Our core philosophy of learning the English language through Heart and Mind means that students often relate curriculum to their own experiences, or values.
Take for instance this haiku penned by Natalie (P6), a literary device taught through the award-winning book we used this term, conveying her desire for a kinder, and resultantly brighter society.
The ability to relate, and create, their own personal voice through literary devices like haiku is part of our BTL difference - our students learn to apply and add depth to their own compositions to express emotions and perspectives.
And perhaps we can all glean a takeaway from Natalie's purposeful poem: Do good. Be kind. Put a smile on someone's face.
